 A Sequel Born From a Forgotten Ending
Eighteen years after I Am Legend (2007), Warner Bros. has officially confirmed a sequel currently in development, tentatively titled: I Am Legend 2.
Surprisingly, this new chapter won’t follow the original film’s theatrical ending — where Neville dies — but instead picks up from the alternate ending, in which he survives and realizes the infected creatures have intelligence, emotion… even love.
A Collision of Titans: Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan
Not only does this sequel mark the return of Will Smith as virologist Robert Neville, but it also introduces Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther) as both co-star and co-producer.
While Jordan’s character remains a mystery, sources suggest he may lead a rival survivor faction — one with ideals that directly oppose Neville’s. Their encounter promises to be a philosophical and emotional clash of titans.

Rumors suggest that Steven Caple Jr. (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) is in talks to direct, raising expectations for a balance between intense action and emotional depth — the very mix that made the original a post-apocalyptic classic.
Though the release date remains unconfirmed, the combination of Will Smith, Michael B. Jordan, and a hauntingly reimagined world makes I Am Legend 2 one of the most anticipated films of 2025.
